The first trailer for Flashback 2 has been revealed.
Developed by the first game’s creator Paul Cuisset and Microids Studio Lyon, Flashback 2 will be released later this year to celebrate the original’s 30th anniversary.
“Three decades after the first adventures of Conrad B.Hart, Paul Cuisset and Microids Studio Lyon are eager to invite all players to enjoy this new chapter in the Flashback franchise,” a Microids statement reads.
“After defeating the Master Brain in the previous episode, Conrad and his allies are once again facing the Morphs species, threatening all civilizations.
“Adding insult to injury, Conrad’s best friend Ian is being kidnapped in front of him… Another dirty trick from the Morphs? It will be up to you to find out who did it and their motivations.”
As well as Cuisset, other members of the first game’s development team have been brought back to work on the sequel, including game designer Thierry Perreau and the composer of the Amiga soundtrack, Raphaël Gesqua.
Much like its predecessor, the sequel will also feature motion-captured animations, which this time will be provided by Moon Knight stuntman Jamel Blissat.
It will feature a number of locations from the first game, including the jungle and Neo Washington, but will also include new locations like Neo Tokyo and a space station.
The original Flashback was released in 1992 and was critically acclaimed for its cutting-edge character animation and cutscenes.
An updated version called Flashback: Remastered Edition was released on Switch, PS4 and PC.
Flashback 2 will be released in winter 2022 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. A Switch version will be released in 2023.
