With the new PS Plus service offering a huge range of PS4 and PS5 games for subscribers, we’ve narrowed down the best ones to start playing now.
At long last, Sony’s revamped PlayStation Plus service is now available worldwide, though not without some major stumbling blocks.
Sony’s overall communication about it has been oddly minimal, with some official information needing to come from subscribers rather than the company itself. It hasn’t even properly explained which games are actually available here in the UK, since it varies for each European country.
As a reminder, there are now three tiers of PS Plus: Essential, which is basically exactly the same as before; Extra, which is roughly equivalent to Game Pass and includes hundreds of PlayStation 4 and 5 games; and Premium, which adds retro games for the PlayStation 1, 2, 3, and Portable.
We’ll offer some suggestions for Premium in another article but below are some of our favourite picks from PS Plus Extra. It is similar to Game Pass, in terms of the number of games available, but as was known before launch it won’t necessarily include first party games from day one (although there are already plans for some indie titles).
Just be aware that PS Plus Extra has only just started and the way it’s organised on the PlayStation 5’s dashboard is not very intuitive. You may have to search for some of these games by name, as they’re not all listed through the main interface, although Sony do seem to be trying to fix this.
