Throughout his time on the TLC franchise, many women have spoken out against his unappealing personal attributes. Without a doubt, Dimitri is the most controversial Seeking Sister Wife cast member to appear on the show. Dimitri and his wife, Ashley Snowden, were the OGs of the show, but after season 3, they took a step back from reality TV. The third season showed Ashley and Dimitri struggling to handle their second wife, Christeline Petersen. Sadly, shorter after she married into the Snowden family, the couple's relationship seemed to go downhill.

After theirSeeking Sister Wife season 3 wedding, Christeline accused Dimitri and Ashley of domestic abuse. As viewers will recall, via TMZ, Christeline went on record and alleged that Dimitri had slammed her head into the bed and headboard and even choked her during intercourse. While Christeline noted she begged him to stop, Dimitri refused. At the time, the patriarch shared text messages that showed his former wife enjoyed being choked during their intimate moments. Dimitri was slapped with a restraining order until the matter could be resolved. In April of 2021, the restraining order was dissolved.
