Get ready to see the universe in a whole new way. Later today, NASA will start revealing the first images taken by the James Webb Space Telescope, the most powerful space-based telescope humanity has ever launched.
The space agency has decided to give President Biden the honor of revealing the first image today at 5 p.m. EST during an event at the White House. NASA will then reveal the other images on Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. EST, with opening remarks scheduled for 9:45 a.m.
A livestream of President Biden revealing the first image will occur on NASA TV, which is available on YouTube(Opens in a new window) and the space agency’s own website(Opens in a new window). The White House will also stream the event on its own YouTube channel; it's scheduled to last an hour and will serve as a preview of what’s to come.
Tuesday morning's reveal will be broadcast live on NASA TV, too. "The public also can watch live on Facebook(Opens in a new window), Twitter(Opens in a new window), YouTube(Opens in a new window), Twitch(Opens in a new window), and Daily Motion(Opens in a new window)," the space agency said. Three decades ago, the world stared in awe at the spectacular images(Opens in a new window) the Hubble Space Telescope took of our universe. The James Webb Telescope promises to do the same, but offer even more detailed views of far-off galaxies, nebulae and other cosmic objects that scientists have been eager to observe.
