Johnny Depp hires attorney Kathleen Zellner of Making A Murderer fame in his ongoing legal battle with his ex-wife, Aquaman star Amber Heard. The Academy Award-nominated actor has been embroiled in an ongoing legal battle with Heard for years. The two met on the set of the 2011 film The Rum Diary and married in 2015. A year later, Heard filed for divorce and accused Depp of domestic abuse. The Pirates of the Caribbean actor's lawyers have denied all allegations of abuse and have countered by claiming Heard was the alleged abuser in the relationship.
The couple's contentious divorce has led to various other lawsuits and controversies. Most notably, Depp lost a libel case against the British tabloid The Sun over an article that referred to him as a “wife beater,” though he did win a separate ACLU lawsuit against Heard. Due to the controversy, Depp was asked by Warner Bros. to step down from his role as Gellert Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts series. But still, the legal battle between the two persists as multiple lawsuits and countersuits hang in the balance.

Now, Depp has armed himself with a major weapon in the legal battle against his ex-wife, Heard. According to Page Six, Depp has hired the famed Making A Murderer attorney Kathleen Zellner. In her own statement, Zellner confirmed she will be joining Depp's legal team which already includes Adam Waldman and Benjamin Chew.
