In one of the darkest alternate realities within the Marvel multiverse, Iron Man proves that could wipe out the entire X-Men if he wanted to. While Iron Man and the X-Men can range anywhere from uneasy allies to enemies, Tony's eradication of all mutants wasn't actually his fault… At least not directly.
It is no secret that Iron Man is an insanely powerful Marvel Comics character, not so much because of his physical might but due to his near unparalleled intellect. Luckily for humanity, Iron Man uses his intelligence, more often than not, for the betterment of the human race. However, in one reality, Tony Stark’s technological creations fell into the wrong hands and they were used to obliterate the X-Men which confirms that the original Iron Man could do the same thing anytime he wants.

In Hulk #4 by Donny Cates and Ryan Ottley, Bruce Banner of Earth-616 finds himself in Earth-122, a reality where gamma mutates are far more prevalent, including a version of Spider-Man who was exposed to gamma radiation and becomes a Hulk. To make matters worse, pretty much every other Marvel hero of this world has been wiped out by President Thaddeus Ross and, inadvertently, Tony Stark. The ‘Gamma Revolution’, as it is known in this alternate universe, didn’t just impact heroes like Spider-Man, but also the world’s weapons industry. Because of the sudden rise in gamma-related weaponry, Tony Stark was ruined and his company was absorbed by the U.S. government, a failure Stark himself couldn’t live with and was the reason he eventually drank himself to death.
