One of the important announcements regarding iOS 16 during the WWDC 2022 event, one of the most exciting features was for iMessages app users. This new feature works like magic as it lets iPhone users edit sent messages or even unsend them on iMessages! The final iOS 16 version is still to be rolled out, but iOS 16 public beta has been released for users and can be tried out now. Notably, in the latest iOS 16 beta 4 release, Apple has made some major changes to the feature.
With the latest iOS 16 update, the changes are likely to impact how an iPhone user can edit or unsend a message on iMessages. According to a 9to5Mac report, iOS 16 beta 4 now will allow iPhone users to edit a message only up to five different times. Moreover, the sender, as well as receiver, will be able to access the edits that you have made. This also means once you reach the maximum limit, the option will automatically disappear.
The latest iOS 16 update also reduced the amount of time you have to unsend an iMessage on your iPhone. Earlier, iPhone users had 15 minutes to revert the message after sending it, but now, the time frame has been significantly reduced to only two minutes. Thankfully, the time limit to edit a message up to five times has remained the same at 15 minutes. Users can simply long-press on a message to get the edit or unsend option.
In addition to the major changes in the iMessage app features, the latest beta version of iOS 16 also brings some small changes to the home app, lock screen notifications, and mail app. If you are waiting for the final release of iOS 16, then know that it is expected to roll out alongside the launch of the iPhone 14 in September.
