Grocery delivery and pick-up service Instacart is rebranding its subscription service from Instacart Express to Instacart+. The name change comes with a suite of new family shopping features(Opens in a new window), including subscription sharing.
"Instacart+ caters to all different kinds of households," the company wrote in a blog announcement(Opens in a new window), "whether they're parents with teenagers who want a say in the weekly shopping, two young professional roommates, or a multi-generational family living together under one roof."
More people can now place orders from one Family Account, while Family Carts allow households to collaborate in building their regular shopping lists. Otherwise, the new plan is very similar to Express, with perks like free delivery on orders over $35, 5% credit back on eligible pickup orders, and reduced service fees.
Subscribers pay the same $9.99 per month (or $99 per year) as before. However, thanks to an expanded partnership with Chase, cardmembers are eligible for a free three- (Slate), six- (Freedom), or 12-month (Sapphire Reserve) Instacart+ membership. The new features should start rolling out to customers over the next week.
The move comes less than a month after Instacart updated its customer ratings system(Opens in a new window) to be more informative and fair, and launched a stats screen and shopper section with details about your account and batch accuracy.
