When it comes to environmental storytelling, there are few examples as quintessential as Inside, the narrative puzzle platformer by Playdead. The deeper into the story you get, the more curious you’ll become. With every new aspect of the world you discover, a handful of questions follows suit.

It all doesn’t stop at the game’s credits, however. Peeling back the surface reveals another even more mysterious and confusing ending. But before you can start contemplating what it all means, you need to find it first. If you want to discover Inside’s secret alternate ending, there are a few things you’ll need to do.
Before you can actually access the area where the alternate ending takes place, you have to put in some leg work. Hidden throughout a majority of the game’s campaign are 14 hidden machines known as Orbs. Once all the Orbs have been located and broken, the secret lab in the following section will have the power needed to proceed.
Additionally, Orbs five, 12, and 13 are each playing a set of repeating musical notes. You will need to keep this in mind for later.
Remember the cornfield from the beginning? Hiding somewhere in the center is a trapdoor that leads to a secret underground lab of sorts. You can find it quickly by holding down the grab button while you run. You should already be familiar with the location since it’s where Orb two is hiding.
