Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the successor and direct sequel to a game that stands proudly near the top of every Star Wars video game list. Jedi: Fallen Order introduced Cal Kestis to the gaming world in a narratively compelling experience that delved deeper into the mythos of a Galaxy Far, Far Away set against the backdrop of the Galactic Empire at its peak. All signs point that Jedi: Survivor will continue in that direction with an older, more grizzled Cal as its protagonist.
Announced at Star Wars Celebration 2022 with a brief, mysterious trailer, much of Jedi: Survivor is still kept under wraps. While footage from the game itself has been scarce, a tie-in novel was unveiled yesterday that bridges the five-year gap between Fallen Order and Survivor. Titled Jedi: Battle Scars, its announcement led to reputable industry insider Jeff Grubb offering his estimate on Jedi: Survivor's release date.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s Prequel Novel and Art Book May Hint at a Release Date
Grubb claims that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will come out in March 2023 – the same month as the tie-in novel. This estimate matches with an earlier PlayStation store leak that placed the game's release date in March as well. While there's always the possibility that Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts push back the launch of Jedi: Survivor, it seems that players can reasonably expect the game to come out in the first half of next year.
In Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, players will join Cal Kestis and the crew of the Stinger Mantis as the young Jedi tries to evade the Empire's unending pursuit of the galaxy's few remaining Jedi Knights. If Cal's leaked action figure is anything to go by, Jedi: Survivor may also be introducing gunplay into the franchise.
