Mind-bending interactive film trilogy Immortality is getting a surprise release on PlayStation 5 on January 23 priced $19.99, developer Half Mermaid has announced.
The PS5 version of Immortality, which is so far only on Xbox, PC, and mobile, was teased last year but this is the first word on it since. It includes all three of Marissa Marcel’s lost movies and their hours of footage, with new haptic and controller speaker features. There's a Platinum Trophy, too.
Immortality is a mystery game from Sam Barlow, the creator of Her Story, in which players are tasked with working through through film footage to figure out what happened to Marissa Marcel. It originally launched on August 28, 2022 before finally coming to PlayStation this month.
Barlow has described the game as a "mental Metroidvania" where, instead of players exploring a map, getting upgrades, then returning to past areas to unlock new paths, they can explore different ideas, learn new things, then return to old thoughts with a new perspective.
In our 8/10 review, IGN said: "Immortality is an interactive film trilogy from Sam Barlow, creator of Her Story. What happened to Marissa Marcel? Explore footage from her lost movies to solve the mystery."
