Activision is set to take the wraps off Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 on Tuesday.
The publisher first confirmed in April that series creator Infinity Ward was developing Modern Warfare 2 alongside a new free-to-play Warzone experience, which may also be revealed later today.
Modern Warfare 2 will be unveiled at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST / 7pm CEST and you’ll be able to watch live via the YouTube video embedded at the top of this page.
Earlier today a Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 trailer leaked online ahead of the official reveal.
Activision recently confirmed that the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 release date is October 28, 2022.
The release date was shared as part of a reveal at the Port of Long Beach, Los Angeles. Over the course of 24 hours, a team manoeuvred a cargo ship containing a Modern Warfare 2 wrap.
Alongside the announcement, Activision released the teaser trailer above, revealing artwork for Infinity Ward’s game and some of the starring characters.
“Task Force 141 makes its massive return with a global squad of iconic veterans, these Operators include Captain John Price, Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley, John ‘Soap’ MacTavish, Kyle ‘Gaz’ Garrick and introducing Mexican Special Forces Colonel Alejandro Vargas,” reads the blurb accompanying the trailer.
As first reported by VGC in September 2021, Modern Warfare 2’s campaign will be centred around the drug war against Columbian cartels.
Sources said the single-player story is “a grittier take on Modern Warfare 2019’s campaign”, with more close-quarters combat, tricky decision making, and the classic Call of Duty set-piece moments fans have come to expect.
