Whispering Keys are a unique item that players can use to open Silent Chests in the beta. Purchased from specific merchants using the special Murmuring Obols currency, Whispering Keys are an optional part of loot game, allowing players to obtain Gold and a randomized selection of loot from Silent Chests. By carrying a few Whispering Keys, players can ensure they don’t miss out on opportunities to obtain better gear.

Silent Chests drop random loot, but players can always use salvage and transmog feature to obtain appearances from on any items that fit their personal styles, but have poor stats. As such, there’s no real need to hold off on purchasing Whispering Keys. To purchase Whispering Keys, players need Murmuring Obols, which can only be obtained from participating in the random world events that take place across the map. Once players have 20 Murmuring Obols, they should head to the nearest Purveyor of Curiosities vendor.

According to Game Guides Channel, players can purchase Whispering Keys from any Purveyor of Curiosities vendor, including Rodyar in Yelesna, for 20 Murmuring Obols. Players can also use their Murmuring Obols to purchase random loot drops from the Purveyor of Curiosities, giving them the chance to obtain top-tier loot and gear regardless of which character class they pick.

Once players have obtained Whispering Keys from the Purveyor of Curiosities, they can open any Silent Chests they come across on their travels through Sanctuary. According to The Outerhaven, Silent Chests appear at random locations throughout the game world, so there’s no telling when and where players will come across them.
