Different mini-games, side stories, and exploits exist in for players to farm money and afford new equipment as they progress through the game. Currency, called Ryo and Mon, are earned by exchanging points from mini-games or items that sell for high prices at places such as the Ebisu Pawnshop. Although some of the best methods for farming money don't appear until after certain chapters of the story, players have plenty of opportunities to gain cash quickly for items they want once they reach that point.
The earliest chance players have to farm money comes in Chapter 2 of 's samurai storytelling through fishing. Players are given a fishing rod to use at specific spots such as Kamo River without the need for bait to catch a variety of different fish. Storing these fish caught in the inventory gives players items to sell at the sea market in the commercial district located in the center of Fushimi, with rare fish selling for more money. The fishing rod can be upgraded to attract rarer fish along with better bait bought from Ichikura's Shop in Fushimi and an unlocked merchant in the later area of Rakunai named the Bait Monger.

Bait can be identified into four categories, ranging from Bait and Quality Bait from Ichikura's Shop to Special Bait and Top-Grade Bait bought from the Bait Monger later on.
Lots of money can be earned through the longer side story, which unlocks in Chapter 4 when players meet the character Haruka.
