Bob Odenkirk reveals that his traumatic heart attack actually ended up helping his performance on Better Call Saul. Acting as a spinoff from Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul chronicles the origins of sleazy criminal lawyer Saul Goodman. First premiering on AMC in 2015, the show quickly became a hit, with many now even claiming it's better than its predecessor. Better Call Saul is now in the midst of its sixth and final season, with only a handful of episodes now remaining.
While Odenkirk frequently makes headlines for his stellar performance as Goodman in Better Call Saul, last summer the actor made headlines for a very different reason when he suffered a near-fatal heart attack while on set. Odenkirk's heart was reported to have stopped beating for a full 18 minutes as a crew member performed CPR and used a defibrillator. After recovering in hospital and enjoying a relaxing 5-week-long break, Odenkirk eventually returned to set to shoot the remaining episodes of Better Call Saul. The actor explains that his physical training for his action movie, Nobody, ultimately allowed him to recover relatively quickly and get back to working on the show.

The actor explains that he started living in the moment more as a result of the traumatic event, which ended up being helpful when trying to get into character and embracing the idea that, as Saul, he didn't know what was going to happen next.
