The Horizon franchise is quite a massive one, and we’re getting ready to see the third game in this series released. While not a new mainline continuation story, we are getting a spin-off. This title will bring out a VR adaptation of the IP that will allow players a bit more of an immersive experience. However, for those of you who have been following the IP since the first title release, you might have wondered how developers adapted this game franchise for VR. Today, through the PlayStation Blog, developers shared a few areas they focused on to deliver a VR experience.
First off, this upcoming title is being released for the PlayStation VR2. This is the next VR headset iteration for Sony, and it will only work on the PlayStation 5 console platform. As a result, there is more power available to really make a thrilling and detailed experience. Thanks to the new hardware, players will get haptic feedback from the controllers along with the headset. Both of which the developers hope will offer a bit more of an immersive feel. You can feel as you pull back on the bow when lining up a shot or feel the weight of a thunderjaw slamming down beside you.
Speaking of thunderjaws, the enemies were redesigned. The developers wanted to get a more accurate point of view look at these enemies. So as you view these enemies, you’ll get a better look at their inner workings and the scale of how large they are. Even some attack animations were reworked to better go with VR gameplay. But that’s not all, as the developers went on to say that they have brought out a new soundscape to the game. You’ll hear the world of Horizon to further add to the immersive experience.
