The first Hogwarts Legacy PS4 vs PS5 comparison video shows impressive results on Sony's last-gen consoles.
The last-gen versions of Avalanche's Harry Potter game were initially planned alongside the current-gen versions last February but were later delayed to April. Following this initial delay, Warner Bros. and Avalanche delayed the last-gen ports a second time into May. From the looks of it, however, these delays were the right call as this new comparison video shows an impressive PlayStation 4 port.
Hogwarts Legacy is a great title with great optimization across the board. The game's visuals are impressive on PC and current-gen consoles. As such, many wondered whether this game would be able to run properly on current-gen consoles. Going by this comparison video from 'ElAnalistaDebits', the development team has done an amazing job porting this game to PlayStation 4. Unfortunately, the video doesn't show performance and visuals on Xbox One so we can tell anything about this version just yet.
On PlayStation 4, Hogwarts Legacy runs in 1600x900p at 30FPS (30FPS to 50FPS with unlocked framerate), whereas the PS4 Pro manages to run the game in 1080p at 30FPS (30 to 60FPS with unlocked framerates). While the PS4 and PS4 Pro versions suffer several downgrades, including lower drawing distance, lighting, and removed assets, the game remains to look impressive on Sony's consoles. In addition, it's impressive that the PS4 version manages to run at framerates up to 50FPS. Loading times might be the biggest issue on both PS4 and PS4 Pro, being roughly 8 times slower compared to the PS5 version. As mentioned in this video, running this game from an SSD on PS4/PS4 Pro could really help in improving loading times.
