When you start playing Hogwarts Legacy, you will soon notice that many doors and gates are locked. If you cast Revelio near them, chests and other valuable items will be highlighted, but with no chance to enter the room. This happens because you need a specific spell, Alohomora, to open locks, and no other enchantment or potion can serve this purpose.
You will learn Alohomora as the story progresses, but you must reach level 14 first. If you have completed some side tasks alongside the main missions, this won’t be a problem.
Alohomora will be taught to you as part of The Caretaker's Lunar Lament mission, and you can’t miss it because it is one of the main quests. You will meet Gladwin Moon, the Hogwarts caretaker, which will ask you a favor. Demiguise statues terrify him; unfortunately, they are scattered around the castle and its surroundings. During this mission, you’ll need to find two of them, pick their moons and get rid of the statues. They’re both in the Faculty Tower. More specifically, one is in the Prefects’ bathroom, while the other is in the Hospital Wing.
Mr. Moon will teach you Alohomora so that you can enter the tower. This is an Essential charm, so once learned, you will always have it at your disposal, and it won’t occupy any spell slot. You just need to get near a lock and use the spell.
When you enter the Faculty Tower, you need to use the Disillusionment charm to reach the Demiguise statues by going unnoticed. To make things easier, you can unlock Sense of Secrecy I and II, and Human Demiguise, three of the best Talents in Hogwarts Legacy. They will lower the chances of being spotted and enable you to sprint while using the spell.
