Here’s our first clip of Twisted Metal TV adaptation. Uh oh.
destructoid.comWe now have our first in-episode footage of Peacock’s upcoming live-action adaptation, Twisted Metal. As debuted during this afternoon’s Summer Game Fest, the clip featured our ragtag protagonist (Anthony Mackie) squaring off against serial killer clown and poster villain Sweet Tooth.
And honestly, it was pretty fucking rough.
For some reason, the decision was made to showcase a clip from the show that doesn’t feature any cars whatsoever. It does however feature some daylight-revealing punches, sub-Marvel comedy, and Sisqo’s 1999 hit. The Thong Song. I’m a huge Twisted Metal fan, and I absolutely do not mind it when other media plays with a brand in new and different ways, but this clip was… not good. It was not funny, it looked kinda cheap, and the sense of humor seemed lost within its own world, and on the SGF audience.
But, we’ll see. Twisted Metal premieres exclusively on Peacock July 27.
Imagine the producers: “One rule for the Twisted Metal show reveal. No Cars.”
