Though Helldivers 2 may be one of the lesser-known PlayStation exclusives slated for 2024, it certainly is one of the most interesting future releases. A cooperative objective-based shooter with a legacy to die for, Helldivers 2 won’t even be all that hard on our PCs, according to Sony.
As per Sony’s latest Helldivers 2 blog post, the game should be relatively easy to run on a very wide range of PC hardware. Thanks to its multiplayer focus and potentially some live-service leanings, Helldivers 2 will be released on PC and PS5 simultaneously with full cross-play support. Since Sony will be trying to build as big of a Helldivers 2 community as possible on February 8, the day of its release, it does make sense that the game wouldn’t target excessively strong hardware to begin with.
Keeping all of the above in mind, Sony claims that running Helldivers 2 on ‘Medium’ settings, with a 60 FPS target at the resolution of 1920×1080 should be a reasonably lightweight task. The company’s official ‘Recommended’ hardware spec includes the humble Nvidia GeForce GTX 2060 (or the RX 6600 XT) and the Intel Core i7-9700K (or the Ryzen 7 3700X), both of which are as mid-range nowadays as it gets.
Naturally, cranking things all the way up to ‘Ultra’ at 4K is far more difficult, and calls for an RTX 4070Ti class of graphics processor. You’ll find detailed spec recommendations in the section below, if you are so inclined, but the general sense is that we’re looking at fairly sensible hardware requirements and a scalable experience overall. At least, that’s what the spec sheet suggests. We still recommend keeping a pinch of salt at hand, just in case performance is out of hand on day one.
Now to get into the nitty-gritty of Sony’s spec
