Arrowhead Games has released Helldivers 2 update 1.005 across both PC yesterday and PS5 today, aiming to squash some pesky bugs leading to server capacity and player progression issues. Unfortunately, this update has had to be rolled back on PC, as it introduced more performance problems!
With the initial burst of popularity for Helldivers 2 at its launch, the game has endured server issues for both capacity, log ins and matchmaking – exacerbated by people then having to retry and retry to get into the game and matches. Update 1.005 aimed to improve these by optimising authentication requests and adding a new timer to show when the game would auto-retry.
After this patch, matchmaking should be improved for people using Quickplay, but it’s noted as a known issue that they are continuing to work on this area.
Additionally, they’ve fixed daily and progression errors and are going to host an increased reward event to compensate players.
Unfortunately, update 1.005 has caused performance problems for PC gamers and Arrowhead has had to roll back the patch.
Per the official Helldivers 2 Discord:
We have rolled out a patch for PS5 that primarily addresses server capacity, login capacity progression and mission rewards, same as the PC patch from yesterday. We do not anticipate that there will be performance problems with the patch for PS5. We are currently investigating that issue with the PC build from yesterday.
