Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead has once again confirmed that mechs are on the way. This comes after a gameplay leak suggested that mechs were close to being implanted into the game, letting players hop in and out of the giant structures and use their weapons.
This tease doesn't reveal too much, just giving us an in-universe propaganda poster that advertises the mechs. However, this latest reference to the mechs does say that they'll be "on the battlefield soon", so they could be added in an update later this month.
It's not clear how we'll come across mechs on the battlefield, although like many upgrades in Helldivers 2, it's likely that they will come in the form of Stratagems. Given that they'll both protect the user and give them access to more powerful weaponry, it's not clear if there will be any kind of limitations imposed on them, outside of the usual cooldown before we can call in another one. For example, they might be on a time limit, or only be able to take a few hits before being destroyed. Or, they might just cost a hell of a lot more than your usual unlocks.
If this leak ends up amounting to something, then we're probably getting vehicles soon too, as footage of these in action has also appeared online. Again, we'll probably be able to pick them up as Stratagems, but what makes these unique is that they benefit the entire team, as your squadmates can hop on while you drive.

As we covered earlier today, fans really want melee weapons, as they're instead resorting to bashing bugs and robots with their guns. This is okay in a pinch, but not ideal if you want to do an actual melee build for a mission. However, until melee weapons are added, some players insist that it's the only way they'll play. Some are even wracking up well over a hundred melee kills per game - more than some get with guns.
It's not clear when any of these features will be added, but in any case, we can
