Microsoft has revealed that Halo Infinite’s cat ears accessory is here to stay. So, you can sleep easy tonight…or perhaps you'll be a little more restless depending on how you feel about Spartan cosmetics. Either way, this is all part of the studios plan to bring more consistency to future Infinite updates.
The folks over at Eurogamer shared this “cat-tastic” news. It all stems from an Xbox Wire interview with 343 Industries head of live performances Sean Baron. In the interview, Baron discussed the studio’s plans to keep future updates more consistent by working closely with players to evolve the game.

Of course, this led to a discussion on how exactly 343 plans to keep the game consistent while also catering to specific player needs and wants, which Baron is ready to tackle with a plan, using the game's infamous cat ears as an example.
"That's the thing that for me is a big deal - as we move forward with the service, we need multiple options for our different kinds of players. Some people hate cat ears on their Spartan - maybe they really want to keep investing in that hardcore, military, Spartan aesthetic. Some people, like me, love cat ears on their Spartan. That's awesome. We'll have both.”
While not the main takeaway from Baron’s plan, it is nice to see that the controversial cat ear helmet is sticking around. After its introduction into the game last year, the Halo community has been divided on whether the ears should stay or go. Some felt that Master Chief, the “man” made of pixels and computer code, would never wear such silly accessories. Meanwhile, others simply enjoyed the customization to let their character stand out.
