In a new interview, members of the Guild Wars 2 team talk about the upcoming expansion, Secrets of the Obscure , and therecently revealed return of the character of Zojja, played by actress Felicia Day.
Narrative director Bobby Stein and narrative lead Indigo Boock talked to ScreenRant about the expansion, Felicia Day returning to voice Zojja. There’s also a brand new video behind the scenes with Felicia Day showing her in the recording booth talking about being excited to return to playing this character after about 10 years, and how Zojja has changed.
When asked about bringing Day back to the role, Stein said that
“In Zojja's case, we wanted Ms. Day to show the strain of time. To get a sense of weariness into the character. Even a touch of bitterness to reflect all she’d gone through in the years since her injuries that she sustained in the war against Mordremoth”.
When the expansion is out in a few weeks, we’ll discover what happened to Zojja, what she has been through, and why she’s returning now. The team wanted to bring the character back for some time, but it never really fit until they were planning the new expansion. With the end of the dragon saga, and the freedom that brings to explore threads, ideas, and characters that they couldn't do justice to with the overarching, chaotic world threatening dragon saga.
Both developers, without spoiling anything, talk about moments with emotional weight that will give us a sense of the character and all she's been through, and the impact on who she is. When asked about a difficult or rewarding moment to capture in the recording booth, Stein says
