Grounded will get a new update, titled “Make It and Break It” on November 13th, that will add a brand new “Gadgets and Gizmos” suite of building and creation tools that will let you transform the backyard.
The new update will extend the stuff that there is to do in Grounded, whether you want to embark on creating your own minigames, Battle arenas, new puzzles, or whatever else you want to build to create an experience all yours. and to let others challenge themselves with your content.
The update was revealed via the Xbox Wire today, and game director Adam Brennecke says that this suite of tools has been part of the team’s planning process for a while now. “This feature has been on the backlog for a very long time. Giving people the opportunity to extend the lifetime of the games they enjoy is always really cool, which was very important to us. We’ve always wanted to see what the community can make with these tools,” he says.
Since the team is small and has limited resources, they spent most of the time since launch on simply improving the core experience, fixing bugs ( that are not the insect kind), and making sure that everything included worked and the experience was solid. Brennecke says that they got to a place where they were generally pleased with Grounded’s released content, so that made room for wishlist items.
The Xbox Wire announcement covers a few examples of what the suite of tools can do, from a colosseum with hordes of enemies to a puzzle game where you have to guess the creature by the noise that plays. These are two examples that you can create when the update launches, and they're leaving it wide open for the way you can use these tools. Brennecke says that the community has said they want more
