A lot is riding on Grand Theft Auto 6 living up to all the hype. Along with Bethesda dragging its feet about The Elder Scrolls 6, Rockstar's follow-up to 2013's GTA 5 has been a long time coming. Naturally, there have been a lot of rumors, leaks, and general fan theories about what the next installment in the open-world franchise will contain. There's also been a report that GTA 6 was initially going to be much bigger than it will turn out to be.
That's according to Axios, as spotted by PCGamesN. Allegedly, Grand Theft Auto 6 was originally going to be built across three cities and have four protagonists. However, the report goes on to say that things have been scaled down. Having four playable characters would have been hugely aspirational, especially considering the complex interwoven lives of the three protagonists in GTA 5. Of course, it should be said that this information has not been confirmed by Rockstar, but it wouldn't be too surprising for the developer to initially want to make something ambitious that later had to be trimmed down.
Grand Theft Auto 6 Will Reportedly Add New Cities After Launch
Currently, it seems as though Grand Theft Auto 6 will have two protagonists, possibly taking influence from Bonnie and Clyde. One character will be female, which will represent the first time a woman has been playable in a GTA game. As well as this, it's also been heavily suggested that the new game will take place in Vice City, the location of the 2002 beloved entry in the series.
