Gotham Knights Could Make The GCPD & Gordon's Replacement Villains
In Gotham Knights' earliest trailers, viewers received hints that suggested the Gotham City Police Department could be a criminal faction. The trailer played a goodbye video from Bruce Wayne, sent to his protégés: Nightwing, Batgirl, Red Hood, and Robin. He explains that the video's reception means he is dead and the Bat Cave has been destroyed to prevent its technology from falling into the wrong hands. With Gotham City in jeopardy from supervillains and other factions, the four heroes must fill Batman's shoes and defeat the rising threat in the city's darkest hours. Scheduled for a 2022 release, Batman fans still have little information about what to expect in Gotham Knights, but more information is likely to release in the coming months.
Gotham Knights' story and gameplay trailers revealed that players mainly fight the Court of Owls, a secret organization of Gotham's wealthiest and most influential members. It's unknown what this society has to do with Bruce Wayne's death, but it's clear that Nightwing, Red Hood, Batgirl, and Robin are facing a serious threat. Their plot for Gotham is also unknown, but previous attempts to retake the city from Batman in the comics involved widespread assassinations, corporate sabotage, bribery, and intimidation. However, the Gotham City Police Department could likely have a hand in the city's devolution into chaos and danger.
