A listing on a popular benchmark site suggests that Google's upcoming Pixel 6a could be even faster than the Pixel 6. Google launched the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro last year to wide acclaim, with most reviewers largely agreeing that these two are among the best Android phones in their respective categories. Google would be hoping to get similar rave reviews about its next mid-range offering.
The Pixel 6a will be the third device in the Pixel 6-series that includes the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. However, unlike the other two, it is expected to be a budget device that might offer similar performance to its bigger siblings but at a more affordable price point. Rumors also suggest that it might be announced at the Google I/O conference next month.

According to a new Geekbench listing, the Google Pixel 6a scores 1050 in the single-core benchmark and 2833 in the multi-core test, both of which are higher than the scores notched up by the Pixel 6. As can be seen from the side-by-side comparison between the two devices, the Pixel 6's single-core score of 1044 and multi-core score of 2758 are both in the same ballpark as that of the Pixel 6a but fractionally lower. The Geekbench listing also revealed that the tested Pixel 6a was running Android 12 and powered by an ARM v8 octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz. Another rumor seemingly confirmed by the leak is the Pixel 6a's codename. The listing refers to the device as 'bluejay,' which has long been rumored as the codename for Google's upcoming mid-ranger.
