A gaming PC isn't complete without a monitor that can beam high-quality graphics directly into your eyes, and if money is no object, check out Samsung's latest ultrawide Odyssey monitor. Like its predecessors, the Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 has a massive 49-inch curved display. The big difference, of course, is the OLED panel used in the latest G9. Needless to say, this looks like Samsung's most impressive ultrawide monitor yet. Preorders open on June 12, and if you're even remotely interested, you should reserve your spot in line. It costs nothing to place a reservation--just enter your name and email address on the reservation page--but you'll be rewarded with a $50 discount and a $250 Samsung gift card if you decide to preorder.
Official pricing hasn't been revealed yet, but judging by the specs, don't be surprised to see this monitor cost north of $2,000 (conservative estimate) when it's available. Just for reference, the 49-inch Neo G9 went for $2,300 at launch--and the Neo G9 doesn't have an OLED display.
What makes this display perfect for gaming is that it has an impressive amount of hardware inside of its 49-inch screen. Samsung quantum dot technology OLED lighting is controlled pixel-by-pixel, which Samsung says allows for a near-infinite color contrast ratio and rich colors. The screen has a 240Hz refresh rate, a 0.03ms response time, and a 5120x1440 resolution.
If you've got the PC rig to handle it, then this screen will probably be one of the best for ultrawide gaming. Several of Sony's PlayStation ports support this format, so games like Marvel's Spider-Man, Returnal, and the upcoming port of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will naturally look fantastic on this display.
