Warning! Spoiler for Garbage Pail Kids: Origins #1 by Dynamite Comics
Dynamite Comics has revealed a new Garbage Pail Kids series that will explore the chaotic origins of the classic '80s trading card characters. Goldberg, Hans Rodionoff, and Jeff Zapata, that will put the iconic pop culture «heroes» back into the spotlight with a bombastic, insane new story.
Garbage Pail Kids initially launched in the mid-1980s, as the Topps trading card company designed the series to serve as a parody of the popular Cabbage Patch Dolls. Created by legendary Maus creator Art Spiegelman and Mark Newgarden and John Pound, the trading cards featured the Garbage Pail Kids (with funny names) experiencing horrific situations, including torture, pain, and death. For example, series one of the trading cards featured Fryin' Brian getting fried in an electric chair, Itchy Ritchy getting covered in spiders, and Adam Bomb's head exploding. The franchise has continued with trading cards and other pop culture collectibles, and now, Dynamite will publish a new comic focusing on the origins of the Garbage Pail Kids.
