Aka Akasaka, the author of the highly-regarded Kaguya-sama: Love is War, will be holding auditions to hire a new manga artist for his next series. This was not long after the announcement that the manga is ending soon. The news and cut-off date for auditions were revealed in the 36th and 37th issues of Young Jump magazine.
The auditions are ongoing and will end on August 31. The winner of the audition will be announced around a month after the projected end of the manga, on November 2. The winner will then serve as the illustrator of Akasaka's next manga series.
Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War Manga To End In October
Kaguya-sama: Love Is War is a romantic comedy showcasing an overly dramatic cat-and-mouse game between the two protagonists, Miyuki Shirogane and Kaguya Shinomiya, who are persistent in forcing the other protagonist to admit their love for each other first. Miyuki Shirogane and Kaguya Shinomiya are both the top student body representatives, and often the other representatives get roped into their shenanigans. Funimation has licensed the English dub, and the manga reached over 15 million copies sold in April of last year. The manga began in 2015 in Shueisha's Miracle Jump, but was transferred to Young Jump in 2016.
This audition could change the life of one manga fan. Working with the author of one of the most popular romance manga in recent years is an opportunity that few could even attempt, much less win. There is no specification for country of origin, just that artists who wish to audition send in previous examples and for amateurs to share their best artworks.
