At the Galaxy A launch event held on March 17, 2022, Samsung announced the Galaxy A53 5G and the Galaxy A33 5G. These smartphones are made for customers looking for affordable but capable devices. While the previous generation of these smartphones had quite a few differences, Samsung has made efforts to provide a consistent experience on both these devices, both in terms of performance and in-hand feel.
The Samsung Galaxy A series is one of the company's most popular and best-selling lineups. In the recent past, Galaxy A52 5G and Galaxy A32 5G have been very successful in several markets worldwide. To recall, the Galaxy A52 5G came with a Snapdragon chipset, and the Galaxy A32 5G had a MediaTek chipset. In addition, both the smartphones had a quad-camera system and ran on One UI 3.1 based on Android 11.

While the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G has a slightly larger display at a 6.5-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display that supports up to 120Hz refresh rate, the Galaxy A33 5G has a 6.4-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display that supports up to 90Hz refresh rate. Had it not been for the water-drop notch on the Galaxy A33 5G and the punch-hole display of the Galaxy A53 5G, it would be impossible to distinguish among the two smartphones. The Galaxy A53 5G has a quad-camera setup, with a 64MP primary lens (with OIS), a 12MP ultrawide lens, and two 5MP lenses for macro photography and depth sensing.
