A new gameplay trailer has been released for city builder survival game Frostpunk 2 by 11 Bit Studios, and it confirms that Frostpunk 2 will be available on PC and Xbox Game Pass. The focus of the new gameplay trailer is all about you, the Steward, and a snapshot of the decisions that will need to be made in the wake of food shortages, human experimentation, and civil unrest. It looks like keeping the city from falling will not be an easy task for anyone.
Frostpunk 2 moves on from the original where coal was king, catapulting players into the oil age. As a result you are dealing with what appears to be a larger population, more complex demands, and the impact of the oil on your citizens. The gameplay trailer shows different scenarios cropping up, and some of the choices you can make like putting laws to the vote.
Looking back at that first game, Jason wrote in our Frostpunk review, “Frostpunk is a horrifyingly playable post-apocalyptic survival game that demands more out of you than most games ever could. Each decision and each sacrifice you make is hard on your city and on you. There are so many impossible choices and no win situations that the game is almost hard to play, but it’s so compelling that you will be unable to step away from it. The only real negative is the sheer overwhelming nature of the world the game is set in, and really that is more of a compliment to the designers than anything else.”
Frostpunk 2 will first be available on PC in the first half of 2024, including on PC Game Pass. It will then launch later in the year for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, including on Xbox Game Pass.
