Gamers are sharing the best physical and digital pre-order bonuses they've ever received, from Mirror's Edge messenger bags to Fallout 3 lunchboxes.
Love them or hate them, pre-order bonuses have become a staple of the industry over the past few console generations, giving exclusive bonuses to players who take a chance on a game before it's released. Although most of these end up being beta access or some kind of skin for a character, some companies go the extra mile and offer some pretty great bonuses.

ResetEra user chubigans started a thread on the site asking others what some of the best pre-order bonuses they've received, both physical and digital. They started the conversation off by bringing up a classic bonus - the golden cart for Ocarina of Time on the Nintendo 64. For those who don't know, pre-ordering the game back then gave you a unique gold variant, while others would just get an ordinary cartridge.
By far the most mentioned pre-order bonus in the whole thread is for Mirror's Edge. If you pre-ordered the game, you got a yellow messenger bag that looked like the ones in-game, which is a surprisingly generous offer for 2008. Funnily enough, the collector's edition of the game also came with a messenger bag, except that one was apparently worse and didn't look like the ones in-game.
If a messenger bag doesn't sound like your thing, you might be surprised to learn that quite a few games offered lunchboxes as pre-order bonuses. Two that are mentioned several times in the thread are the one that came with Fallout 3 and one for the 2009 release of Bionic Commando. Weird that it happened twice, but at least both look pretty
