Fortnite players may be busy with all the new additions, such as the new locations to visit, or ways that Myths and Mortals has altered the gameplay, such as using Underworld Dash, or finding the Mythic Thunderbolt of Zeus to use on other players. Many of these activities take place within battle royale, where health and shield management is critical, so players are always looking for new loot.
Whether Fortniteplayers play solo or with others, they may be focused on finding ways to increase their health during matches, or looking for items. This is why plenty of players go fishing, but as some may have discovered, fishing in this game is not always convenient.
A Reddit user named Bmlok_CZ shared a clip of gameplay where they took their shield breaker and tossed it at the lake. In seconds, plenty of fish popped right up. Typically, players use fishing rods, but doing that yields considerably smaller amounts of items while taking up much more time. From this video alone, it is unclear whether this method gets users materials and rare fish, and rods still have the utility of hooking and pulling other players. Fishing in bulk like this may prove useful for players who want to stock up before taking on the Olympian Bosses that are new to this season, but it could lead to other perks, like discovering the Midas Flopper, which can make all of the loot in a player's inventory legendary.
Another user on the post comments that now shield breakers finally have a utility, since it is simply easier and less time-consuming to use other weapons on players, even when they have full shields. Fishing rods seem to be better for fighting than they are for fishing, which may be something the developers always intended for players to discover, but could easily as well be a way to streamline processes that players just happened upon.
