Do you love virtual pets? Then, you must have heard of Niantic’s Peridot, the cute AR virtual pet game. Well, this new-fangled pet game has just rolled out a pretty cool update that lets your pets talk with you. Yes, now you can hear what they have to say in their own voice!
Basically, Niantic’s Peridot is using AI with your voice or texts to let your little critters hit you back with their own gestures and replies. The tech behind it involves a large language model (LLM) and a customised version of Meta’s Llama 2. Together, these technologies help your Dots get what you’re saying and dish out a response.
AI’s been hitting the gaming scene hard lately. It’s not just Niantic; others like Roblox, Brawl Stars and Homa are getting in on the action, too. The latest chat tech isn’t the first time Peridot has used AI extensively to roll out a new feature. Earlier, they dropped features like Feral Dots and new levels called Dot Levels.
The new feature looks like a pretty good step forward for Niantic’s Peridot. If you haven’t got yourself a Dot yet, I reckon you do! Head to the Google Play Store and grab the game. Meanwhile, why not catch a glimpse of Peridot below?
In Niantic’s Peridot, you get to scoop up the eye-popping creatures (Dots) and pretend they’re your real-life buddies. It launched in May 2023 with its cool augmented reality-infused features. There are a bunch of Dots to play, from unpredictably cute ones to bizarrely funny ones.
And expect your virtual pets to act just like your real ones. They can bark at the neighbour’s dog, roll around in spilled snacks, nuzzle up against the screen when you pet them and forage and fetch virtual items they find.
