Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is officially underway, and Blumhouse founder Jason Blum just shared a peek behind the curtain at what we can expect.
He tweeted a picture of Jim Henson's Creature Shop working on the Mangle animatronic. You can see it embedded below, with what looks like its decapitated head to the right.
First debuting in Five Nights at Freddy's 2, Mangle is a redesigned Foxy. They became incredibly damaged and obscured over time as toddlers would take them apart and put them back together. As such, its exoskeleton is completely visible, it has two heads (one without a mask), and a hand protruding from its neck.
Its personality reflects its distorted nature as the pitch of its voice varies drastically. It also seems to be aware that it's been ripped apart and forced back together countless times as it becomes incredibly agitated if a body part falls off. In the second game, it was one of the main antagonists, so it only makes sense that they'd appear in the second film.
Mangle isn't the only villain who has been teased for the sequel so far. Fans think that the first film set up Shadow Freddy, an Easter Egg from the second game. You can see them pretty easily on the monitor, slumped over in the dark, but they look like Golden Freddy. If you turn up the brightness, you'll see that they're actually purple.
In the first film, babysitter Max is killed by Freddy, but to get around being a PG-13 movie and hide how brutal her demise was, we see it through their shadows. If it is a nod to the character, it's hardly subtle. They would go on to be one of the main villains in the third game, so perhaps we'll see a similar setup in the next movie.
Whatever the case, it's clear that we'll at least see Mangle make an appearance in FNAF 2. Clearly, it's following the games closely, so maybe wwe'l;l see Golden Freddy, Balloon Boy, Toy Freddy, and normal Freddy to boot.
