Square Enix's big budget triple-A title Forspoken is getting DLC it's been announced. The Forspoken: In Tanta We Trust expansion promises battles alongside Tanta Cinta and further adventures "deeper into the world of Althia" with this prequel story.
The In Tanta We Trust story DLC serves as a prequel to the main game and is set 25 years prior to the events of Forspoken. "Continuing her search for a way to eradicate the Break from Athia once and for all, Frey finds herself following a mysterious voice that leads her to a place that somehow transports her to the Purge of the Rheddig, the legendary battle that devastated Athia and eventually drove the Tantas to madness", says the promo material.

As Frey, players will be accompanied by Tanta Cinta, and have a new set of magical abilities, which will be handy as the pair uncover answers, and yes, save Athia once more. These newfound magical abilities will unlock new combat strategies as "devastating" attacks combos can be unleashed against invading Rheddig forces. The DLC also promises "unique, vertically-designed environments" that will see Frey honing her magic-enhanced parkour skills.
While Square Enix might've been disappointed with the "lacklustre" sales of Forspoken, which is reported to have cost more than $100 million to develop, it's still heartening to see the game getting expansions and support. While sales may judge Forspoken a flop, the game does have redeeming qualities, and DLC may well boost its reputation. Who knows, Frey and Athia might have a longer life than expected if she's properly supported in the months ahead.
