The Chess puzzle requires players to find a missing chess piece in Fobia — St. Dinfna Hotel to earn the Grandmaster achievement. Fobia — St. Dinfna Hotel is an indie first-person shooter survival horror game. Players control Roberto, a journalist, as he unravels the secrets of this dark, mysterious hotel. The hotel is not what it seems; Roberto must access the hotel in different time periods in order to find his way out. Throughout the hotel, players find items and complete puzzles to progress the game.
There are many floors in the hotel that players navigate to find items. The Chess puzzle, which is on the seventh floor, requires a piece from the ninth floor. Many puzzles are organized this way; players may find an item early in the game while completing one puzzle, and the item ends up being useful for a later puzzle. There is no linear exploration in Fobia — St. Dinfna Hotel; players will be constantly going up and down the floors, trying to solve puzzles, killing enemies, and surviving the unknown.
