Valerie Bragg's time on Love Island USA was not her first time in the spotlight, as her name was on every Outer Banks fan's tongue at the end of 2021. The islander had one drunken night out in Orlando, Florida, in late December and somehow ended up the bane of Outer Banks fans' existence when she hooked up with the show's star Chase Stokes. Chase plays the show's main character, John Booker Routledge, mostly known as John B, and his character is in a relationship with Sarah Cameron. In real life, Chase was dating the actress who plays Sarah, Madelyn Cline.
Unfortunately, the two went their separate ways in November 2021, and on a night out in Florida, Valerie allegedly became the actor's rebound. Little did they know, someone was recording them, and when the video started circling around online, Outer Banks fans had themselves a new enemy. Fans quickly started blaming Valerie for Chase and Madelyn's split, calling the Love Island contestant a homewrecker and harassing her on social media. The situation got so out of hand that Valerie had to post a video on TikTok explaining that she had nothing to do with Chase's breakup and that the two are not together.

No matter how much Valerie tries to escape the drama, it continues to follow her after her appearance on Love Island USA.
