SNK just revealed that a brand new entry in the beloved fighting game series Fatal Fury is currently in development. The announcement was made on stage at the latest EVO held in Las Vegas, Nevada. This will be the first game in the franchise for well over 20 years, the most recent being Mark of the Wolves in 1999.
“Legends never die,” SNK remarked on Twitter. “After more than 20 years, Fatal Fury/ Garou is coming back! Finally, the long awaited sequel has been green-lit!”

The developer did not give a release date, but SNK did however publish a teaser trailer and a piece of artwork. The platforms on which the game will be available have not yet been revealed.
The upcoming entry in the Fatal Fury series currently has no title, being referred to simply as the “New Fatal Fury/ Garou." This on the other hand appears to be a sequel or follow up of some kind to Mark of the Wolves, the teaser trailer ending with a shot of the main character, Rock Howard.
"The city of legend still breathes,” SNK says in the teaser trailer before cutting to a shot of Rock Howard standing in a back alley near two silhouetted figures. "Hungry wolves back on the prowl. A new destiny hidden in darkness." Fans of the franchise have been speculating about who could be hiding behind Rock Howard, identifying these characters as Billy Kane and Kain R. Heinlein, the final boss in Mark of the Wolves.
Fatal Fury got started back in 1991 with the release of King of Fighters. The franchise was further developed over the course of the next decade, coming to a conclusion with Mark of the Wolves in 1999.
