First Nope First Reactions Praise Jordan Peele's 'Most Ambitious Film'

Since the release of Jordan Peele's Get Out, which scored four Oscar nominations and an Academy Award win for Best Screenplay for the director/writer, the film's success has managed to bring critical acclaim to most of Peele's directorial work, and his newest film Nope has just as much hype around its looming release.

Universal's Nopebrings back Get Out star Kaluuya and newcomer Keke Palmer to the big screen. The film's story follows two siblings (Kaluuya and Palmer) who spot what they believe to be an alien spaceship hovering above their family horse ranch. The siblings then attempt to catch the spaceship on camera, but things don’t turn out how they planned it.

How Can Nope Live Up To Jordan Peele's Other Horror Films?

Nope is set to hit theaters on Friday, but it just officially began screening to most critics today. Because the film has already been screened for some members of the press at preview events, the initial reviews of the film are seeming really positive. Collider editor-in-chief Steven Weintraub did not spoil anything about the film by keeping his thoughts brief, but he made it clear that Peele's Nope gets a “big thumbs up” in his opinion. CNN entertainment business reporter Frank Pallotta also gave his opinion, calling Nope “out of this world” and calling the film “a monster mash with great performances."

Reports from People, Daily Dead News, and The Huffington Post gave the film similar praise and applauded the film's stars for excellent performances. The Hollywood Critics Association labeled Nope as “ambitious,” but also deemed the film to be Peele's weakest effort in comparison to his last two films. Although the Hollywood Critics Association gave a mixed review, the film has received plenty of praise to
