Skyrim is the longest running entry in the whole series. Originally launching in 2011 and having multiple re-releases over the years, it's been going for more than a decade, and it doesn't seem to be slowing down either. While The Elder Scrolls 6 is said to be in development, it's likely to be a long time before fans see the next installment. Luckily, TES5 has a lot to see and do, and with the modding community constantly releasing new content, its longevity is growing all the time.
Sometimes add-ons will give a little bit more to just one location. For example, a team of modders calling themselves The Whiterun Dragonsreach Expansion Project has just released a new mod for Skyrim. As the name suggests, this adds a little bit more to the city of Whiterun, specifically near Dragonsreach. The description says that this area now has a number of defending towers, as well as a new training area for guards.
Skyrim Mod Lets Players Cast Magic with A Lute That Can Play Custom Music
Whiterun is one of the most famous locations in Skyrim, largely because it's pretty much the first city that most players will come across. While Riverwood is where the story takes the Dragonborn after escaping from Helgen, it's Whiterun where much of the game really starts to take off. The Jarl of the city sits atop his throne in the aforementioned Dragonsreach keep, and it's during these early moments of the story that the player encounters and fights their first dragon. There are plenty of cities and settlements in Skyrim, but it's this one that holds a special place in the hearts of many.
As mentioned earlier, Bethesda's 2011 epic RPG is enjoying a very long shelf life, with enough custom add-ons to keep the game going for many more years, it seems.
