The War Within brings with it updates to classes, questing, new areas to explore, new secrets to find, and of course, new Profession updates. This time, Blizzard is addressing player concerns with the Work Order system by introducing NPC Work Orders, a new type of Work Order that can be accessed via Profession Crafting Tables that doesn't count towards your daily Public Order limit.
These orders have the potential to be incredibly useful, and possibly lucrative — but they come with their own set of downsides. Unlike normal Public Work Orders, NPC Work Orders will always be up according to Blizzard, and they function remarkably similar to how players have experienced the system in Dragonflight. However, these orders may be harder to complete than they initially seem due to how «helpful» the NPCs are — meaning the more Reagents they provide, the more difficult the order may be to complete.
On the left, an NPC order with fully provided Reagents (note the low quality) requires a Rank 3 outcome. On the right, that same order must use Concentration to complete at the required rank, as tested in the latest Beta build.
NPCs providing low-level Reagents may unintentionally make a recipe more difficult — since Reagent quality is significantly more important in The War Within than it historically has been in Dragonflight, Rank 1 Reagents suffer a fairly large penalty. While the simple solution would just be to skip Work Orders that are «too difficult» or use your precious Concentration resource, that may not be optimal due to the rewards available from these orders.
Some NPC Work Orders aren't just about the gold or the First Craft Knowledge Point bonus; these Work Orders can also
