There’s been no shortage of skepticism surrounding Concord ever since we got our first real look at the game earlier this year, and it seems that’s been reflected in the level of interest its beta has managed to generate. The upcoming hero shooter had an open beta across over the last few days, though it seems not may hopped on board to get a taste of its offerings.
As per SteamDB, Concord had a surprising low peak of just 2,388 players on Steam over the course of its recent open beta period. Of course, the shooter will have seen its player base split across PS5 and PC (where it’s also available via Epic Games Store), but that’s still nowhere close to the size of player base that a major upcoming shooter should be pulling, especially this close to release.
The week prior, Concord had another beta that was originally meant to be available only to those who pre-ordered the game, but Sony opened it up to allow all PlayStation Plus subscribers to hop in, while the beta was also extended by a day. Whether that was due to pre-order and player numbers being low or some other reason is anyone’s guess, but the game’s disappointing beta performance would suggest it as the former.
Concord launches on August 23 for PS5 and PC.
