The OneXGPU 2 eGPU specs and performance have been detailed by OneXPlayer, showcasing the potential of AMD's Radeon RX 7800M.
The AMD Radeon RX 7800M GPU was featured recently in a video by ONEXPlayer, the maker of various gaming consoles and mini-PCs. The eGPU is made for USB4 and OCULINK devices such as the X1-Mini from the same manufacturer & has now offered a first look at its gaming performance in a new video. The X1-Mini console was connected to a brand new 'ONEXGPU 2' external GPU, which is powered by the Radeon RX 7800M GPU, based on the Navi 32 die.
Till now, we either have the flagship RX 7900M GPU for mobile platforms or the budget RX 7600 and 7700 GPUs. The AMD Radeon RX 7800M expands the options for Radeon users though it is unknown if it will be confined to just eGPUs such as the OneXGPU 2 or we will see any laptops that make use of it.
The AMD Radeon RX 7800M GPU was spotted for the first time, even before AMD made any official announcement regarding the GPU. ONEXGPU calls it 'World's First Graphics Card Dock Equipped with AMD Radeon RX 7800M. The ONEXGPU 2 eGPU dock has quite several connectivity ports, including USB 4.0, Oculink, 2x DP, 1x HDMI, 2x USB, TF card, LAN, and a M.2 compartment for 2280 form-factor SSD.
In terms of specifications, the AMD RX 7800M features 60 RDNA 3 Compute Units or a total of 3840 stream processors within the Navi 32 XT GPU, which makes it equivalent to the desktop RX 7800 XT variant. However, the memory configuration is cut to 12 GB GDDR6 memory on a 192-bit bus instead of 16 GB GDDR6 VRAM on the 256-bit bus on the RX 7800 XT.
