The first PS5 review score for Final Fantasy XVI has been published online, by way of Japanese magazine Famitsu. The outlet awarded the Square Enix title a 39/40, with three reviewers handing the RPG a 10 and a fourth giving it a 9. More verdicts are expected to hit the Internet in the lead-up to tomorrow's launch. Reported by Gematsu, the outlet claims the main story will take roughly 35 to 40 hours to complete, but your playtime will double if you're a completionist.
Just two Final Fantasy games have been awarded a 40/40 rating on Famitsu: Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy XIII-2. Final Fantasy XV scored a 38/40, so the publication reckons the latest entry is an improvement at least. Other entries in the RPG franchise to score the same as Final Fantasy XVI are Final Fantasy VII Remake, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, and Final Fantasy Type-0.

Liam grew up with a PlayStation controller in his hands and a love for Metal Gear Solid. Nowadays, he can be found playing the latest and greatest PS5 games as well as supporting Derby County. That last detail is his downfall.

I question their scoring system if 15 got a 38/40…
Not bad, but I’ll wait for more reviews on this one. If I had to guess, I’m going to say this game will hover around the 8.2 — 8.5 mark. Hopefully, reviews are good because I will definitely buy. I haven’t touched my PS5 since God of War Ragnarok.
