Yoshida goes over multiple new details about Final Fantasy XVI, revealing the game will feature AI companions and each Eikon fight will offer its own unique playstyle. Yoshida also goes over the current state of the game and what still needs to be done for it before it can release.
Yoshida says that Clive will be the main playable protagonist of the game, but he will be joined in his journey by one or more companions. Based on what Yoshida says, the companions in XVI are controlled by an AI and may function similar to how Noctis’ allies worked in Final Fantasy XV. Yoshida reveals the name of the pup from the first trailer is Torgal and even teased that Torgal may become a party member.
Yoshida also goes over how Eikons will work in Final Fantasy XVI. Eikons is a term used in the game to describe giant beings with incredible powers, and each Eikon is based on a particular summon from past Final Fantasy games. Certain humans known as Dominants can transform into Eikons. Several trailers for Final Fantasy XVI show multiple Eikon versus Eikon fights, and Yoshida confirms that Eikon fights will be playable.
