New Final Fantasy VII glitches continue to be discovered over 27 years after the game's release on the original PlayStation.
(There will be some spoilers below, so avoid reading if you have never played Final Fantasy VII and don't want to get anything spoiled.)
The new glitch, showcased in a new video shared by 4-8 Productions on YouTube, allows players to retain Aerith in the party even after the events at the Forgotten Capital. What makes this glitch fascinating is the complex procedure to activate it, which essentially requires the user to "confuse" the game so that it doesn't know exactly at what moment the story actually is, only to rectify it at the Icicle Inn location, the first location Cloud and his companions visit after the Forgotten Capital, to keep Aerith in the party.
The events at the Forgotten Capital also mark the end of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second entry in the remake trilogy released earlier this year on PlayStation 5. Built on some of the mechanics introduced in Remake, Rebirth greatly expands them, doing away with the predominant linearity of its predecessor to present one of the best JRPGs released in recent times.
