Stranger of Paradise was announced during Square Enix's 2021 Summer Showcase, where it quickly earned memetic status. This was thanks to the trailer repeating one word over and over again: chaos.
Stranger of Paradise is an upcoming action RPG with a story that is meant to be a dark retelling of the original Final Fantasy game. The initial trailer showed a self-proclaimed group of «Warriors of Light» as they fought Garland in the Chaos Shrine, which was the first dungeon in the original Final Fantasy. The response to the game might not have been what Square Enix was expecting, as the constant use of the word «Chaos» earned Stranger of Paradise tons of memes online. Since then, the gameplay trailers and demos of Stranger of Paradise have toned down the usage of chaos, though the fans still love quoting it whenever the game is mentioned.
